just press play

January 30, 2010

three very unexpected songs came on (in a row) while listening to my ipod as i was shopping today (for baby Selah) and they literally stopped me in my tracks. i’ve purposely not listened to them for a very long time for various reasons but today i didn’t want to skip them.  i guess i didn’t realize just how long it had been since i’ve listened to it or how long it had been since i had put any new music on it/changed playlists.

they made me smile… one of those smiles that people around you who see you know exactly what its for and about. it was the smile that has to be hidden if youre around anyone who knows you. i miss having those all the time, they’re fun to have.

my mind is continually racing with thoughts, my heart with feelings and my life with utter craziness.  nothing is as it seems and yet everything that needs to happen in my life and that is going to happen in my life is ultimately leading to my being happier, which will be nice.

a few things, just for thought…

1. i made a new friend at starbucks (actually, i’ve made quite a few, but this one is the funnest one) and i hung out with them this past weekend. it was THE funnest non-date date i’ve ever been on. i could possibly have found my music soul mate.

2. woke up saturday morning with a smile on my face. it was probably the best way to start the weekend (and the fact that it was rainy made it better). the best.

3. i found my favorite place to be in dallas. coincidentally, it’s a starbucks.

4. i haven’t bought an article of clothing for myself in over a month (doesn’t mean that nobody else has)… which is amazing. go me.

5. i love it here. its going to be a good “new” start for me no matter what happens. the friends that love me and that i love are here, and i’ve needed that for a long time.

for the past week, every starbucks that i go to is playing The Beatles for the duration of my stay there. its comforting and has given me a very good sense of calm through everything that is going on.

there will be an answer, let it be.”

the lake, my bestie (among seeing other friends) and Lucy have made my soul happy :)

August 5, 2009

i accepted a job as a teacher… holy crap.

i know that’s what i went to school for, just didn’t realize that i would actually have to do it, haha.

i’ve been going through all of my music for children notebooks/books and lessons that I did while in the class (forever ago) and have decided that it’s going to be SO MUCH FUN! i’m bringing out all the instruments i bought throughout TMEA to teach with- boomwhackers, egg shakers, rhythm claves, handbells, and the inevitable recorder… i absolutely can’t wait!!

I hate this part. genuinely hate it…

but I believe in it and am still not giving up on any part of it. Everything is getting harder than I ever thought it would but I know in my heart the promises that were made and I am going to trust and believe… its what gets me through every single day and night. Each day is another day closer.

i love this vacation… ecspecially because even though i’m not having everything paid for for me or getting paid to come, i know i’ve rightfully earned it and don’t have to worry about keeping up with anyone but me!

ps, i miss you bestie.

I hope time flies over these next few days, and that it stops once we’re together.

about a month ago i took my dogs to the dog park… typical saturday mid-morning for me. as i got to the dog park (there is a normal park with a basketball court and soccer goals next to it), i noticed a lot of people there. a LOOOOOOT more than usual. there were also lots of ghetto, pimped out cars and people there with cameras and other stuff that you would make a video with. I figured it was just people having a ghetto car show (it was on the east side of Austin, so it’s nothing new to see) and that they were gonna film it or maybe have a race, so i went about my business and just watched to see what all the people were doing while my dogs played with their friends, haha. as I was leaving the park, there was really, really loud music coming from the park and everyone was dancing around- and i totally wanted to go join them because it was my favorite rap song!

the song ended and as i drove off, it started playing again… so i put on 93.3 (hip-hop station) and tried to figure out what was going on. turns out that Chalie Boy (famous hip hop singer) was filming his “I Look Good” music video here in Austin at the park that day and all the people who were there were the extras for the video. i was completley jealous, but quickly realized that no matter how ghetto i wanted to be or have ever been (my mother swore when i was in hs that i was supposed to be a black child, turns out my bestie is!) that there is no way in hell they would let me be in that park or even in the video- my dogs had a better chance, haha.  Anyway, they did let one white girl in the video… if you can watch and make it through, see if you can spot her!

I am proud to say that in the month of July (which has 31 days), I will be home a total of 14 of them… haha.  Yay vacations!!!!

6-11, Summer Youth Camp with my one of my favorite people in the entire world and her youth group!

16-23, California with my mom… San Diego, La Jolla and Napa Valley!

23-26, Mary Kay Seminar!!!

I haven’t had a vacation since March (and even then, i was working)… i’m not complaining, but i think this month is well deserved. soooooo excited!!
